This is another piece created for a competition brief, this time for the D&AD Student Awards 2008. The Solarcentury brief required entrants to create a web based interactive piece to communicate to users some of the basics and benefits of using solar photovoltaic energy.
I created a simulated village which contained houses and commercial buildings that the user could upgrade to Solar PV, while managing the budget of the village. This gave the users information about the process by which one can have solar PV panels installed, and hilighted the eventual financial benefits of using the alternative power source.
At the end of the simulation, users are given a ranking from A to F based on the amount of time they played for, the amount of money that was left in the town treasury, and the amount of solar energy that their village was generating.
